A transatlantic bond has led to holiday park owner John Fowler joining an elite brotherhood - the USA Marine Corps.He is to become an Associate Honorary Member of the USMC, with a special presentation at his Ilfracombe holiday park on Tuesday of next week by Senior Vice Commandant Bob Martin, who represents the Marine Corps League in London. Mr Martin explained how such an extraordinary circumstance had come about:"Because of the bonds of friendship formed when John supported the charity work of the US Marine Corp League and hosted the Amateur Ryder Cup and donated his time and effort to help us, we feel he has become a brother. The Corps have such a thing as "A Band of Brothers" and it is under this that we decided to invite him to become an Associate Full Honorary Member."Mr Fowler added: "This is a great honour as I realise this sort of award is seldom granted.
