40-year-old delivery driver received chest injuries after being trapped between his van and railings, say police

A van driver has been taken to hospital with chest injuries after being trapped between his vehicle and railings at High Bullen.

Emergency services were called to the B3227 at 2pm today (Thursday) to the accident involved a single Peugeot Boxer van, which ended up in a hedge.

Police said it appeared the 40-year-old driver had apparently been in the rear of the stationary delivery van when it started to roll.

He apparently attempted to stop the vehicle and became trapped between it and railings.

The driver sustained chest injuries and was treated by South Western Ambulance Service paramedics before being taken to North Devon District Hospital.

The road was partially blocked but cleared by 4.30pm.
