A man was injured after being shot with an air rifle in Infracombe in the early hours of this morning (Sunday).

The man – in his 40s – suffered chest, abdomen and hand injuries, which are not life-threatening, after someone opened fire on him while he was walking home from a night out.

The incident happened at around 2.30am, and Devon and Cornwall Police – which launched a witness appeal – believes it occurred in Oxford Grove.

A spokesman said: “A local man was shot with an air rifle whilst walking home from a night out.

“The male, in his 40s, received injuries to his chest, abdomen and hand, none of which are life-threatening.

“If anyone witnessed the incident or has any information as to who may have done this please call 101 quoting police log number 149 of September 30.”
