Richard Brettle, 31, faced four charges relating to the fatal collision on the A361 at Knowle last August.

A man has appeared at North Devon Magistrates' Court today (Friday) charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Richard Brettle, 31, of Northfield Terrace, Ilfracombe, answered to four separate charges this afternoon.

He was charged with causing the death of Natalie Jones in a collision on August 21 on the A361 at Knowle.

Brettle was also charged with causing serious injury to Abigail Ashton, in the same collision, by dangerous driving.

He was also charged with possessing 13.1g of cocaine with intent to supply, and being in possession of criminal property, namely £1,300 cash.

The first charge of causing death by dangerous driving is so serious it can only be heard in the crown court so was committed by magistrates.

Brettle will next appear at Exeter Crown Court on July 1 at 9.30am.

He was granted unconditional bail.
