Man dies after falling from Torridge Bridge

Police are appealing for witnesses but death is not thought to be suspicious

A man has died after reportedly jumping from the Torridge Bridge near Bideford.

Police and ambulance were called at around 9pm last night (Monday) but the man, in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Part of the bridge was closed for investigations by scenes of crime officers but the death is not being treated as suspicious. His next of kin have been informed.

Police are appealing for witnesses and ask that anyone with information to call 101, quoting log 699 for January 4.
