Police were notified at around 3.10pm to reports of an incident in Dyers Close where two people, a man and a woman, both in their 40s and are known to one another, were both injured. The air ambulance attended and the man was taken to Derriford Hospital with lacerations to his throat where he later died on Sunday, August 5. The woman was also taken to North Devon District Hospital with a leg injury and has since been released. Her injuries are not thought to be serious. Police confirmed armed officers attended the scene where they removed a crossbow believed to have been used in the incident. DI Phil Gray said: We are currently working hard to clarify the circumstances surrounding this incident. This is believed to be an isolated and contained incident and we are not seeking anyone else in connection to the incident. Families are both being supported by police and enquiries are continuing.
