The man was found lying in the middle of Pitt Lane in Bideford on Christmas Eve and died in hopsital on Boxing Day.

A man found unconcious in the road in Bideford has died.

Police were called after the 64-year-old was found unconcious in the middle of the road in Pitt Lane, Bideford, just after 6am on Christmas Eve.

The local man had sustained head injuries by unknown means and was taken to Derriford hospital in a critical condition.

He died in hopsital on Boxing Day.

The man's next of kin have been informed and a file is to be prepared for the coroner.

Police are currently treating this death as unexplained and are appealing for witnesses.
