A man has been taken to hospital with a suspected broken pelvis and shoulder injuries after a three car collision at Ashford near Braunton this morning (Thursday.)

Emergency services were called at about 8.25am and fire crews from Barnstaple had to cut the casualty free from the wreckage of the silver Citroen Saxo he had been travelling in.

He was taken to North Devon District Hospital by South Western Ambulance Service and the road was partially reopened at about 9.45am.

The collision is thought to have occurred on Strand Lane, which runs beside Trelawney Garden Centre and connects with the main A361.

Police said a beige Toyota Corolla and a black VW Golf were the other two vehicles involved, but so far there is no information on whether the occupants suffered injury.
