The 48-year-old appeared at North Devon Magistrates’ Court on Friday to hear the three charges against him.

A man from Chittlehamholt has appeared in North Devon Magistrates’ Court charged with sexually assaulting a ‘mentally disordered’ man.

Barnaby Giles Welsh, 48, was charged with intentionally touching the man between September 5-8 last year, without consent.

He was also charged with two counts of sexually assaulting him between the same dates, in Bideford.

Welsh, represented by Rod Ball, was committed to Exeter Crown Court for a hearing on July 8.

He was released on conditional bail, not to contact a number of named people, including the victim.
