Main road closure in ilfracombe for Cliffe Hydro work

Some disruption expected as developers dismantling large.

HILLSBOROUGH Road in Ilfracombe will be closed for at least some Sundays in February to enable the dismantling of the tower crane that has been used to construct retirement flats at the former Cliffe Hydro Hotel.

Developer McCarthy and Stone has been granted road closures orders by Devon County Council for every Sunday in February and March to allow it to get another crane onsite to carry out the work.

But the council has said it is likely only one or two days will be needed – the additional days are booked as a precaution should any unforeseen circumstances arise, such as high winds.

A mobile crane will also be used on site for a single day in March.
