Jason Macmanus, born in Ilfracombe, will be running the Marathon on Sunday, April 24
An Ilfracombe born man will be running the London Marathon on Sunday, April 24 to raise money for the RNLI in his former home town.
Jason Macmanus, who now lives in Staffordshire, grew up in Ilfracombe and as a professional scuba diver, Jason has witnessed on many occasions RNLI lifeboats leaving the harbour to rescue distressed boats and crew in the Bristol Channel.
“The RNLI is a fantastic charity that saves on average of 24 lives a day across the country; I am honoured to be running the Virgin Money 2016 London Marathon on behalf of this fantastic organisation,” he said.
Half the money Jason raises will go to RNLI HQ in Poole and the other half to Ilfracombe RNLI.
He previously took part in the 2012 Greater Manchester Marathon in aid of Children’s Hospice South West.
