The hugely popular Barnstaple Santa Sleigh tour is back from this weekend as the jolly man in red and his helpers visit streets all around the town in the run up to Christmas while raising thousands for charity.
The annual Barnstaple Round Table kicks off this Saturday afternoon (November 29) at 3.30pm in the Tower View area and will be visiting Roundswell on Sunday, starting at the same time – see below for the full tour schedule, which runs up to December 19.
You can also see Santa tonight (Thursday, November 27) at the Barnstaple Christmas lights switch on.
Now an eagerly awaited tradition, the tour is starting a little earlier this year due to Santa’s busy schedule, with Round Table members busy planning for the past several months and the club hopes to support many more charities and interest groups this year.
Mikey ‘Driller’ Jewell, chair of Barnstaple Round Table, said: “We are pleased to be back again this year with the Santa Sleigh as it brings so much joy to everyone across the area over the festive season.
“This year we are hoping to continue the amazing response from last year’s sleigh season where we raised over £14,000 for local charities and sports groups and we hope to beat that again this year as the charity and community is greater than ever before.”

Over the next few weeks communities are being urged to turn out and show their support for Santa and the Round Table volunteers and donate whatever they can to the many bucket collectors travelling with the sleigh.

Mikey went on to thank the many people and organisations who support and make the Santa Sleigh tour possible each year. The proceeds will be split between 16 local charities and sporting groups, including those mentioned by Mikey below.
He said: “It would be very difficult to put the Santa Sleigh on for so many nights without the help and support from charities and groups including Children’s Hospice South West, Care for Kids, North Devon Hospice, Chemo Hero, North Devon Hockey Club and Barnstaple Rugby Club, to name a few.
“I would also like to thank local businesses for their help and support including the team at Barnstaple Nissan for the loan of their vehicle for the whole of the sleigh season, The Voice for promoting the Santa Sleigh on the radio across Barnstaple and North Devon, Amy Bellamy and her team at the County Garage Group for sponsoring the Santa Juice for the generators.
“Plus Bruce Issac, Donna Randall and Ameilia Barrow from Storage Space for letting us store the Santa Sleigh in Pottington through the sleigh season and finally I would also like to thank all the bucket collectors and members of Barnstaple Round Table who venture out in all weather conditions.”
