Pop-up events, performances, projects and activities to brighten up the winter in North Devon can now apply to a special grant fund for help.

North Devon Council's Winter Flourishing Culture Grant aims to create fun and vibrant cultural experiences around the region during the winter, made possible thanks to the Government's UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Grants of up to £250 are available. Projects should have a positive impact on the community and aim to increase participation in cultural activity, helping make towns and villages a better place to live, work and visit.

With a very broad remit, events could include anything from creative workshops and activities to performances and music events, or wellbeing activities, hosting tours, walks and discovery trails.

It could also apply to landscaping or creating art in neglected areas or making use of redundant buildings. Activities and events must take place in November or December this year or January 2026.

Grants will be awarded on a first come first served basis subject to approval. Applications will close on Friday, December 1 or before, if the entire fund has been allocated.

Councillor David Clayton, leader of North Devon Council, said: “I am delighted we are once again able to offer our local groups funding support to bring more cultural events to North Devon, through the Government's UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

“The Winter Flourishing Culture Grant provides a fantastic opportunity to bring people together and foster even more creativity, connection and joy in our communities this winter.

“The feedback from the first round of Flourishing Culture Grant events was incredibly positive and it was wonderful to witness such variety, creativity and enthusiasm on show.

“We look forward to seeing more fantastic projects come forward, and we would encourage interested parties with a great idea to apply sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.”

To apply for a Winter Flourishing Culture Grant fill out the online form on the North Devon Council website, or for more information about applying, email the council's Economic Development team at economicdevelopment@northdevon.gov.uk
