The region’s premier commando assault course for fun and camaraderie returns for a 10th year this October to raise money for North Devon Hospice.
Mission: Unbreakable sees hundreds of people turn out each autumn to take on more than 30 obstacles over a 10 kilometre course to enjoy mud, mayhem, laughter and the opportunity to challenge themselves for a good cause.
The course is designed with help from 24 Commando Royal Engineers at RMB Chivenor and has become famous for its obstacles such as the Sheep Dip, Freezing Private Ryan and the Assault Slide.

This year it takes place on Sunday, October 5 at North Molton Sports and Community Centre and is once again sponsored by South West law firm Wollens.
All money raised at the event go to North Devon Hospice to help local people and their families in their time of greatest need – and there is a special early recruit discount for anyone who signs up before July 31.
Lizzie Hanks, head of fundraising at North Devon Hospice, said the event was the ultimate combination of fun and fitness: “We see all abilities taking part in Mission: Unbreakable, because this isn’t about how fit you are, it’s about how determined you are.
“Despite the tough nature of the course, it’s so much fun getting wet and muddy with your mates, and there are always big smiles at the finish line when people realised what they’ve achieved.”
She added: “Together, we hope to raise £100,000, to provide care when it matters most. For ourselves or our loved ones, we’d want those final months, weeks and days to be filled with precious moments - enjoyed in comfort and dignity.
“Your hospice can make this possible, but only with your support. So get your team together and sign up to Mission: Unbreakable today. Let’s conquer the challenge and make a difference together.”

Lin Walkey, hospice community care team lead, said taking part helps people remain in the comfort of their own home when facing a life limiting illness.
She said: “We visit patients at home, to help them stay in the place they are most content, surrounded by their home comforts and their loved ones.
“With the funds raised through Mission: Unbreakable, we could care for over 100 local people in this way. It is truly life-changing, for the patients and their families. Please sign up and show you support for those who need it most. Thank you.”
Wollens partner Dave Eastman has taken part in almost every edition of the event and said: “I cannot recommend Mission: Unbreakable enough as a challenge to test yourself, because it’s accessible to most people of varying fitness levels.
“Our team always has a huge amount of fun on the day. We’re laughing the whole way around, because the obstacles are fantastic and you cannot help but smile at them. It’s the best bonding exercise we can think of, whether you’re a group of colleagues, friends or gym buddies.”
Mission: Unbreakable 2025 is kindly sponsored by Wollens, CT1 in the South West, Vertu MINI Exeter, Parker, Stannp.com, Pure Dental Centre, Lycette Care, Advanced Scaffolding (SW) Ltd, TP Pumps Ltd, Trees for Good Causes, Simpkins Edwards, Torch Farm & Equine Vets and Smurfit Westrock Atlas.
