The current weekend Ilfracombe Minor Injuries Unit service, delivered by First Care ambulance, which runs Friday to Monday will end on Sunday, March 31, 2024.

To ensure continued access to urgent care for local residents and visitors from Tuesday, April 2, 2024, the minor injury service in Ilfracombe will be available at Combe Coastal Medical Practice Monday to Friday and at the Tyrrell Hospital on Saturdays and Sundays.

The service will run as follows:

  • Monday to Friday Combe Coastal Practice will provide a minor injury service (Monday to Friday) at their surgery between 08:30 and 18:00. People should call NHS 111 in the first instance as you may be directed to a more appropriate service for your needs to ensure you get the correct treatment at the right time.
  • A weekend MIU service on Saturday and Sunday will be provided from 10am to 6pm by two fully qualified private ambulance staff at the Tyrrell Hospital in Ilfracombe. This will be available for both walk-ins and patients referred through NHS 111.

These arrangements will be in place until March 31, 2025. Royal Devon will continue to work closely with NHS Devon to develop long term urgent care plans to meet the needs of the community.

In a life-threatening emergency people should attend the main emergency department at NDDH or call 999.
