Witness appeal after driver killed in Heanton Court collision

The single vehicle collision happened in the early hours of Sunday morning

A 20-year-old man from Wales was killed in a car crash between Barnstaple and Braunton at the weekend.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to the collision on the A361 at Heanton Court just after midnight on Sunday (November 19).

Emergency services were called to reports of a single-vehicle collision involving a blue BMW on the A361 at Heanton Court, near Barnstaple, at around 12.25am.

Police said the driver, a 20-year-old man from Powys, Wales, sustained serious injuries.

Despite the efforts of police officers and ambulance staff, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Damage was also caused to an electricity pole as a result of the collision.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the scene and the closure was handed over to highways at around 7.20am.
