Care for Kids welcomes new trustee

Care for Kids North Devon is welcoming its latest charity trustee.

Following a recent recruitment drive, the charity is pleased to welcome on board Sarah Bone as its new trustee. Sarah joins Jacky, Angelo, Fran and Jenny who have been involved in the charity since it began in 2009.

Sarah is an experienced children’s nurse, working at Caroline Thorpe children’s ward at North Devon District Hospital. Her close links with the ward will help with future projects and the day-to-day identification of families who qualify for support from the charity.

Care for Kids supports families who have a child diagnosed with a life-threatening illness or condition. The charity provides instant financial support to families who are struggling to pay for the costs of travelling to specialist children’s hospitals and the subsequent loss of earnings. It also carries out enhancement projects at the children’s ward at NDDH, making it a more comfortable place for all those who use it.

Sarah said: “I’m really pleased to be joining the team at Care for Kids as a trustee. Working at the children’s ward I see first hand how difficult life can be for families who have a very poorly child to care for. Care for Kids helps to relieve some of the pressure these families are going through, and I can’t wait to help be part of it.”

Current trustee, Jacky Massos, said: ‘We’re really happy to have Sarah joining our team. Although we’re a small charity we have lots going on, so it’s good to have another trustee to help us meet our fundraising targets and continue our work supporting local families.
