South Molton Tool Hire set to close

One of the longest established businesses in South Molton is to close at the end of August.

For four decades South Molton Tool Hire has been keeping local builders and DIY’ers supplied with all manner of equipment, from scaffold towers to mowers.

For the past 30 years South Molton Tool Hire has been North Devon’s only Makita authorised service and warranty agent. It is the owner, Andy Horsnell’s expertise and dedication to the Makita brand, which has led to an opportunity to take on a role as a senior technician and training officer within the factory service centre of this worldwide brand leader.

Andy said: "This came completely out of the blue, but is an exciting opportunity which is really too good to miss. For 40 years our family has been proud to run this business serving our community and while we’re still profitable, like many other small businesses the economic climate continues to be challenging. Working at Makita will enable me to pass on my skills to the junior technicians and other staff, alongside working in a team."

Andy would like to thank all of his customers for the loyalty and support South Molton Tool Hire has enjoyed and wishes everyone well for the future.

The business will close for the final time at 5.30pm on Thursday, August 31.
