BARNSTAPLE Lions Club celebrated its 39th Charter Anniversary with a barbecue at the Bradiford home of Lion David McCrum and his wife Sue, at which cheques totalling £2,000 were presented to local causes.The success of the club's Three Bridges Fun Run enabled the Lions to present £500 each to the Children's Hospice South West, North Devon Hospice, Exmoor Search and Rescue and Devon Air Ambulance.Next year's fun run will be on May 10; entry forms are available from the website www.barnstaplelionsclub.org.George Rodd, a charter member of Barnstaple Lions, was also presented with the club's Melvin Jones Award. This is the highest award within the Lions organisation and is given to members who have shown total commitment during their years with the Lions.
