Lib Dems get the blues as Tories take control

THE Conservatives have taken Devon after winning 32 out of the 62 County Council seats available, with just 12 left to declare.
The Liberal Democrats have taken just 12 so far, with four going to Labour, one independent and one for the Green Party.
North Devon results have only just started to trickle in, with Lib Dem Geoff Fowler retaining his Ilfracombe seat with a majority of 376 ahead of Paul Yabsley for the Conservatives.
Mr Fowler took 39% of the vote, Mr Yabsley 26.7 and David Beagley of UKIP 21.8.

The total of voters who turned out in Ilfracombe was 33.6% of an electorate of 9,128.
Across North Devon as a whole, the returning officer has estimated a voting turn out of 42%, up on the mid 30s number expected for local elections.
