A SECTION of the A386 between Torrington and Bideford is currently closed for safety reasons following a landslip near the entrance to Beam Quarry caused by the recent downpours. During the heavy rain overnight on Wednesday, a large tree came down bringing a section of the bank with it. The tree has been removed and Devon County Council Structural engineers have inspected the site. A diversion has been set up via Landcross, A388, Frithelstock and Rakeham Hill. Access to Weare Giffard and Beam House is available via the Landcross end of the A386.Contractors Celtic Rock are currently at the location working on site to remove loose rock and vegetation and to stabilise the bank in order to re-open the road as soon as possible. It is anticipated that the road will be open again early this week.
