Five trees were brought down in landslide at Beam Quarry with the road closed between Torrington and Weare Giffard.

The A386 is currently closed between Torrington and Weare Giffard due to a landslide.

It is understood five 'large' trees were brought down in the slide at Beam Quarry.

Devon County Council's highways team are on site currently trying to move the debris, while a diversion for traffic is in place.

Hugh Griffith, highways operations control manager, said on Twitter: "A386 Beam Quarry closure a 30ton bank slip has brought down 5 large trees, 3 cut up & moved, digger starting to move soil/stone #devonlaert."

He estimated the road would be closed until around midday.
