Developer returns with new proposals for Birch Road site.

New smaller scale plans are on the table for a controversial housing development at Landkey.

Devonshire Homes has lodged a planning application for 77 homes on fields next to Birch Road, pruning back on earlier proposals for 250.

The new plans on the site near Millennium Green provisionally named ‘Mazzard View’ would also include up to 250 metres of ‘mixed use community and employment space’ plus public open space.

There was fierce reaction from residents last year when the company consulted on its initial proposals, with many claiming 250 extra houses would destroy Landkey as a village and local services would be unable to cope.

Devonshire Homes is proposing a mix of two to four bedroom houses with up to 35 per cent as affordable homes.
