Prominent Bideford pub has reopened after being boarded up in December.

There are ‘exciting’ times ahead for the Kings Arms in Bideford, which has reopened its doors.

The prominent Quay-side pub was boarded up on New Year’s Eve, but reopened last week with a new team at the helm.

Leaseholder Andy James, who also runs the Kingsley Inn in Northam, has taken over with the help of new manager Michelle Jones.

Andy said: “People are very happy it’s open again.

“It’s a beautiful old pub and the feedback so far has been really positive.”

Michelle said the pub was hoping to launch a new menu over the coming weeks, with ‘proper pub grub’ and even a Kings Arms burger.

She added: “We have a lot of exciting plans for the whole year.

“We want to bring Bideford together and make it the place to be again.

“We’re hoping to get local bands in as well and make it a nice place to be.”
