Police were called to the accident near Stoke Rivers at 8.30am this morning (Wednesday)

A man has been taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries after a collision between a car and a school bus.

Police were called to Yarde Cross in Stoke Rivers at 8.30am this morning (Wednesday) following the accident between Gunn and Brayford.

Goodleigh Road has been closed as a result of the accident.

The man was trapped in the vehicle and was released by fire crews from Barnstaple and South Molton.

They released him using hydraulic cutting gear and small tools before he was taken to hospital.

The bus is believed to have been carrying school children. No one on the bus was injured.

The road was re-opened shortly after 12.30pm.
