£8,000 boost for popular Bideford beauty spot

A grant of nearly £8,000 from Torridge District Council has helped to carry out improvements at Kenwith Nature Reserve in Bideford.

Carrying on from the legacy left by the late Councillor Alan Whittle, a brand new all-weather path has been created around the reed bed lake.

Half a dozen members of the Friends of Kenwith Valley group, supervised by Jane Vanstone, gave up their weekend time to help create the path.

Jane said: “Local people have been very appreciative of the work we’ve done and more and more people are using the path and enjoying their walks in this wonderful place.”

The group has also produced a full-colour nature trail leaflet with a grant from Tesco Bags of Help.

Bideford Councillor Trevor Johns said: “The addition of an all weather path at the Nature Reserve has created a much more accessible and safer environment for people to enjoy this hidden gem in Bideford.”
