End of an era as Barnstaple sales office and UK manufacturing sites close

Barnstaple Leaderflush Shapland employees have lost their jobs after administrator Deloitte announced the company was being wound up and would not reopening after the Christmas break.

It affects 23 people who worked at the door manufacturer’s Queen Street sales office and brings to an end a history of more than 160 years in the town.

It also means the loss of almost 400 jobs at the company’s Langley Mill and Mansfield manufacturing sites.

Its parent company Laidlaw Interiors Group Limited went into administration on December 18.
