A361 closed for four hours as lorry and fully-laden 30-tonne tipper block road

The North Devon Link Road was closed during rush hour on Wednesday after a lorry jack-knifed and spilled gravel across the A361.

The road was closed at around quarter-past-five for over four hours while the HGV and its 30-tonne tipper were recovered and the road surface was repaired. No other vehicles were involved and nobody was injured.

Fire fighters also attended the accident, which took place just before the West Buckland turn-off, to deal with an 80-litre fuel leak.

A diversion was put in place by the Highways Authority until the A361 re-opened at 9.30pm.
