ALEX White, pictured, from Chulmleigh Community College, has been re-elected as a member of the Youth Parliament for North and West Devon and Torridge.Eight other candidates from schools and colleges throughout the region took part in the elections and 15-year-old Alex topped the poll.He was presented with a glass trophy when the election results were announced at County Hall in Exeter.The runner-up was Rowan Perrior from Okehampton College.Elected to the Young People's Shadow Executive were Gregory Checkley, 16, from Park Community School, Barnstaple, and Becca Grose of South Molton Community College.Alex said: "There are many challenges facing young people in our area, including lack of facilities and public transport."It is important, too, that we look after our environment and commit ourselves to recycling and energy saving."Alex now goes on to regional finals in Birmingham where he will represent the South West in a competition for a place in the national youth parliament.
