SIR - Jeremy Bell derides English nationhood by saying it is based upon a flag which has at the heart of it a cross on which a brown Jewish man was crucified. Sadly, his argument is flawed, in my opinion.
King Izaekle compiled the Bible in 730AD from 44 different religions and used the four Gospels according to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John to back up his story.
However, he omitted 23 other conflicting Gospels, not least the one by Jesus' best buddy, St Peter, who said Jesus was not crucified at all.
Jeremy Bell's implied wish that mass immigration should obliterate English essentialness is not one that I follow. As the French say, vive la difference!
