BHS spokesman says ‘significant reduction’ in rent is needed to secure the store’s future in Green Lanes, Barnstaple.
The future of Barnstaple’s BHS store is hanging in the balance as the retailer makes cutbacks.
A spokesman for the store, which is based in the Green Lanes shopping centre, said: “We are doing everything we can to keep all of our stores open.
“Unfortunately our Barnstaple store is one where we need a significant reduction in rent to reduce it to a market rate, so its future depends on successful discussions with its landlord.”
Earlier this year the Gazette reported how plans for a new entrance to the shopping centre put its Topshop store’s future into uncertainty.
The centre saw a brand new TK Maxx store open last year, but also lost two stores: Monsoon and Mothercare.
Those two units currently still stand vacant.
