Investigation after large grass fire

Around 30 square metres of pampas grass was severely damaged in the fire in Ilfracombe last night (Sun).

FIRE crews from Ilfracombe were scrambled to Wilder Road in the town to reports of a large fire involving pampas grass yesterday (Sun).

On arrival around 4.15pm, the first crew requested back up from a second fire engine for additional manpower.

Fire fighters used a hose reel jet to extinguish approximately 30 square metres of pampas grass which was severely damaged.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the fire service and police.
