SIR - You may not know that 20 million is up for grabs for new and creative informal adult learning proposals that will benefit people, not just now, but for years to come. It is part of a really imaginative initiative the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills has launched called The Transformation Fund.As the recent Adult Learners' Week (9 - 15 May) proved, learning really does transform lives. This fund is exactly what providers from voluntary and community organisations need to make new and imaginative opportunities available to adults to learn from this summer. 1 million has been reserved for early applicants who make a bid by 12 June 2009; and the final deadline for other bids is 12 July 2009.More information is available at: http://www.dius.gov.uk/transformationfundPeter Lavender, Deputy Chief ExecutiveNational Institute of Adult Continuing EducationRenaissance House, 20 Princess Road WestLeicester LE1 6TP
