Two swimmers riased £450 for FOND Families during a gruelling four-mile swimathon.

Two intrepid fundraisers have raised a total of £450 for the charity FOND Families with a sponsored swimathon.

In two hours, Ken McIntosh and Sandy Hanson swam a combined four miles at Ilfracombe Pool.

The money they raised will help the charity support local children and their families in times of crisis and need.

It supplies small grants to people on the recommendations of professions, and aims to fill the gaps were the need falls outside of local authorities’ funding rules.

The group meets monthly in Ilfracombe to consider grant applications.

Examples of FOND Families’ work includes a family holiday where the breadwinner had a terminal illness; sports club subscription fees; a washing machine for a struggling young mother and supplying shoes and clothing for children to attend school.

FOND Families is always in need of help from volunteers, whether you’re looking to donate, help at events, house a collection box or help to publicise the charity’s work.
