The 13 year nine teenagers, led by year head Lisa Swailes-Smith, spent two weeks working for Challenge Ministries at poor communities in the African country. They helped out around Hawane Farm and the orphanage at Bulembu that Jon Skinner, a former teacher at Ilfracombe Junior School, helped to establish. At Bulembu they met children that the academy supports financially and were teamed up with students from the local primary school. They experienced two days in a Swazi school with their buddies and enjoyed fun activities such as sports and a birthday party. A highlight was a two-day bush camp building shelters, cooking cakes on open fires, playing catch the flag in the dark and even killing their own dinner.
