Lynda Courtnadge is chosen by the council to lead the town for another year, joined by George Squires as deputy mayor.
THE Mayor of Ilfracombe says she is looking forward to a second year at the helm as the town bids to realise its ambitions.
Councillor Lynda Courtnadge was returned to her office at the Annual Meeting of the Council on Monday night.
Joining her for the year as deputy mayor is Cllr George Squires.
Mrs Courtnadge thanked all her council colleagues and its staff, who had worked hard during the past year, notably on the One Ilfracombe neighbourhood community budgets pilot project.
“One Ilfracombe has resulted in great teamwork involving staff, the public sector and many volunteers under the leadership of Cllr Ron Ley,” she said.
“With it supporting and working with the town council we really are best placed to realise our ambitions for the town.
“Working with our public sector partners we can cut out duplication and waste so that what money is available is used for the best of Ilfracombe.”
Mrs Courtnadge also thanked her husband Richard for his stalwart support through a year that saw the mayor or her deputy attend 70 various engagements and raise £772 for her chosen charity North Devon Hospice.
This year she has chosen the Chemotherapy Appeal as her charity for the year.
