Ilfracombe will welcome the return of the cruise ship MS Prinsendam for a day-long visit on Sunday, July 26. The 800-passenger vessel will drop anchor at around 8am and people will come ashore to enjoy Ilfracombes hospitality and go on coach excursions, across North Devon and Exmoor, including to Chambercombe, Combe Martin and Dunster. There is expected to be a welcome wagon from local bands and dignitaries. The ship is scheduled to depart at 4pm and some pier parking restrictions will be in place. It follows a previous visit in 2011 and weather permitting the Prinsendam will cross the channel from Holyhead in Wales. The ships return follows promotion of the town by the marketing group Destination South West, as well as negotiations with the ships agents.
