Man taken back to shore after falling ill while coasteering at Beacon Point

Both Ilfracombe lifeboats were launched to help a man who had fallen ill while coasteering.

Heading out to Beacon Point on Thursday afternoon, the all weather lifeboat assured the group help was on the way in the shape of the inshore lifeboat.

Three RNLI crew were put ashore to help the casualty around to a small beach before getting him into the smaller lifeboat, then transferring to the all weather to get warm and receive first aid.

He was handed over at Ilfracombe harbour to a waiting ambulance crew.
