ILFRACOMBE all-weather lifeboat launched on Monday afternoon to go to the aid of the local lobster-potting boat Nemo, which had suffered from machinery failure 14 miles to the west of Ilfracombe as she returned from Lundy.

When the lifeboat arrived on scene a tow was passed to the casualty and best speed was made back to Ilfracombe.

But due to the large two metre swell and force 5-6 south westerly the tow parted after five miles, but it was re-attached and the pair returned to Ilfracombe Harbour at 6.30pm.

The shout was the first call out for the new team at Ilfracombe with Coxswain Andrew Bengey in Charge.
