Ilfracombe lifeboat crew pelted with fireworks

Police called after an illegal firework party held at the harbour while RNLI volunteers worked with the lifeboat.

ILFRACOMBE RNLI volunteers had to duck for cover when someone began setting off fireworks on the harbour beach as they tried to recover the lifeboat.

The incident happened at around 12.55am on Saturday, July 6 and a crew member called the police after the ‘large fireworks’ came close to some of the volunteers.

Police said it was an offence to let fireworks off in a public place and anyone caught doing so would receive a fixed penalty notice.
