The girls enjoyed an afternoon of activities, learnt about the history of Girlguiding, had a barbecue and enjoyed a birthday cake.

Mrs Terrena Howse, District Commissioner for Ilfracombe District, which includes Woolacombe and Combe Martin, said : "Girlguiding is in great shape after 100 years and more relevant to today's girls than ever with the unique girls-only space it provides.

"As we move forward into our next 100 years, our aim is to welcome even more members and supporters from all backgrounds and cultures and to continue to empower girls to develop their organisation.
