The team of volunteers will be tackling areas hit by district and county council cuts, such as grass cutting on roadside verges and clearing public places. Thanks to £6,000 in funding from the Town and Parish (TAP) Fund the group now owns a ride-on tractor mower and a large stock of electric and hand tools. Town councillor and gardener Steve Trebble, who founded the group, said they had already made a start on the grass verges and he hoped people would start to see a difference in the town. Different organisations will be helping its a case of all the little groups working together and getting everybody talking to each other, he said. People can post their problems on the Green Team Facebook page, although we are only here to tidy up the public spaces in and around Ilfracombe.
