The first new day care centre for the elderly in Ilfracombe for four years will open tomorrow (Monday).
Wonderful Life Day Care will be based at The Lantern Centre in the High Street.
It opens tomorrow at 9.30am and will be open Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9.30am-3.30pm, offering clients a hot meal, the chance to socialise, activities, entertainment and a safe environment.
Debbie Faddington, one of the founders, said Wonderful Life Day Care Ltd has been set up by care staff with years of experience in the industry.
She said: “We realised that there was no provision at all for day care for the elderly in Ilfracombe.
“Some of our clients will be referred by social services but it’s open to the public as well.”
Debbie said there had been nothing in the town since the closure of the Devon County Council run Burrow House in 2014.
The centre is currently looking at catering for up to 25 clients at a time. But from 10am-noon on the days it is open it will be available as a drop-in for senior citizens, who are welcome to call in for tea and coffee and a cake.
