It is the fourth year of organising the carnival for Ilfracombe and District Lions Club, which is looking forward to a busy weekend that will also see the Mini Grand Tour in the town on the Monday.

The carnival starts at 6pm from Hillsborough car park by the swimming pool and makes it way down High Street, Wilder Road and finishes at Broad Street in the harbour.

Lions president Colin Everest said: “We cannot thank our supporters enough for all their support.

“In addition to the much-needed money we have received many offers of help from other town organisations such as Rotary, Round Table and Compass. We could not manage the event without them.

“We really hope individuals, families and organisations will want to get behind us; because there are many ways to get involved as participants, sponsors or helpers.”
