The celebration will be held on Sunday, May 6 with a colourfully clad array of characters making their way around town in the annual quest to release the spirit of summer.

All are welcome to don green costumes or a little face paint and join in the fun.

The procession sets off at 11am from the Wilder Road car park on the seafront, making its way along the High Street, down Fore Street and back along the seafront to the ‘clapping circle’ at Capstone.

The leaf-clad ‘Jack’ will accompany the procession and after the parade he will be led down to the beach and stripped of his greenery to – hopefully – release the spirit of summer.

Unfortunately street drummers Humdrumconundrum cannot take part this year and organisers would like to hear from any drumming or Samba groups willing to join the parade.
