Plans have been submitted to transform the former Bluecoat Primary School on Whites Lane into 13 new houses.

A FORMER primary school which has stood vacant for years in Torrington could be converted into 13 new houses.

Plans have been lodged with Torridge District Council to convert the old Bluecoat Primary School in Whites Lane into two, three and four bedroom houses.

The application proposes to convert the redundant school building into five homes and build another eight homes with vehicle access.

Torrington Town Council has raised no objections to the plans which are due to be decided on this month.

The application by Preslowe Ltd, represented by Holsworthy company Trewin Design Partnership also includes private gardens and parking.

Last year an application by Dobra Building Services to demolish the former school and create eight new homes was withdrawn.

The building was last used in August by Great Torrington Museum to temporarily store its exhibits when it was evicted from its home in the Town Hall.
