Three fire engines scrambled as blaze spreads into first floor and roof.

FIRE crews were scrambled in the early hours today (Thurs) to reports of a house fire in Ilfracombe.

Two fire engines from Ilfracombe were called to Princess Avenue and a third pump was requested as the fire spread to the first floor and roof space.

Crews arrived at the scene around 5.45am and used two hose reel jets and breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire in the two-storey property.

A fire investigation is due to be carried out.
