A Fremington man is about to set off on a 130 mile fundraising bike ride for a little known charity that brings dogs and ex-forces or emergency service personnel together.
Tomorrow (Saturday) David Boydell will set off to cycle for two days from Bath Spa to London Waterloo to raise money for Hounds for Heroes.
For much of the journey he hopes to follow the restored Kennet and Avon Canal, before following the Thames into the city.
Hounds for Heroes works to provide trained assistance dogs ex-service people but also uniquely to those who have served in the emergency services and may also have suffered physical or mental trauma while on duty.
David, who has completed several long distance cycle journeys, said: “I’ve chosen this charity because they are small and not very well known.
“The people that receive these dogs are risking their lives in the job. I suffer from mental health issues and the help you get from dogs does make a difference.”
David hopes to raise at least £500 and anyone who would like to donate can go to THE JUSTGIVING LINK HERE or donate direct to the charity, by calling 01730 823118 and quoting ‘Canal Cycle’.
