Hospital wards affected by diarrhoea and vomiting

Visitors advised to follow strict hygiene proceedures.

PATIENTS and visitors are being warned about cases of diarrhoea and vomiting at North Devon District Hospital, in Barnstaple.

A number of wards have been affected and although Northern Devon Healthcare Trust has not issued formal visiting restrictions, it is advising only close relatives to visit the hospital.

A statement on the Trust website says: “Visitors to the hospital should exercise good hand hygiene and use the hand hygiene gel located at the entrance to each ward on arrival and departure.

“Please do not visit the hospital if you have had symptoms of diarrhoea or vomiting in the last 48 hours.”
