Group wants to find new recruits to help with fundraising drive.

THE Friends of Barnstaple Hospital are looking for ‘fresh blood’ to keep the group alive.

Di Burridge, of the group, said there are around 150 members but they are hoping to attract some newer and younger members.

“There has been a lot of attention around the Chemo Appeal in recent years,” said Di.

“While this is great, we don’t want people to forget all the fundraising we are doing for other important pieces of equipment.”

Recently the Friends funded a ‘cuddle cot’ for the labour unit, as well as an £18,000 screen for the Ladywell Unit.

“Now we need to raise back the money we have used to fund this,” added Di.

The League of Friends has provided more than £2million for the hospital over the years and continues to hold events such as a monthly luncheon club and bingo. Anyone who would like to help, make a donation or find out more can contact Di on
